Medium: Custom Clothing Design
Involvement: Fitting and construction using satin and all-over lace.
For: Personal Client
Objective: Modify a regular pattern to fit a woman who was one size on the bottom and several sizes smaller on the top.
Medium: Custom Patternmaking
Involvement: Designed the dress and drafted a flat pattern from a 'sloper'*.
For: Personal Client
Objective: A dress 'sloper' is a generic pattern with a short, tailored skirt and a plain bodice. Starting with a sloper, I was able to combine all the elements the bride wanted in one design by starting from scratch.
Medium: Custom Clothing Design
Involvement: Adapted the pattern, conducted fittings and constructed the dress.
Medium: Costume Patternmaking
Involvement: Found this image in a period magazine, drafted the pattern 'flat', from a sloper, then draped a 'mock up' on the dress form.
For: Temple University Independent Study
Objective: Despite the simplicity of the line, it presents a few difficult problems for the pattern-maker to solve, due to using bias cut panels.
Medium: Custom Patternmaking
Involvement: Researched the time period, selected a suitable fabric (rayon) and constructed the dress.
For: Temple University Independent Study
Objective: The skirt is bias-cut, as is the draping on the top, which must fall in very a precise way to achieve the appropriate silhouette. So, the challenge is to work with the fabric until it falls just the right way.
Medium: Custom Patternmaking
Involvement: Researched the period then presented Ms. Bunch with several design sketches. Constructed the dress.
For: Actress Elizabeth Bunch
Objective: Ms. Bunch needed a costume resembling this period of fashion for a series of choral performances. (The color is not historically accurate, but the choir director chose it.)
Medium: Photo Contact Print
Involvement: Designed the bag and arranged the negatives and photocopied letters on photo paper. The print was then exposed and developed by a photography student.
Medium: Adobe Illustrator and folded paper
Involvement: Designed the logo, die-cut mailer and folding schedule.
For: Antonelli Institute -student project
Objective: Design a coordinated package such as might be used at a convention.
Medium: Adobe Illustrator and folded paper
Involvement: Designed the logo, die-cut mailer and folding schedule.
For: Antonelli Institute - student project
Objective: The graphic image formed by folding the mailer served as an additional image for other items.
Medium: Adobe Illustrator and folded paper
Involvement: Brainstormed the concept, designed the packaging, comped up the graphics in Adobe Illustrator.
For: Antonelli Institute - student project
Objective: The assignment was to design a mailer which would contain candy samples and a coupon.
Medium: Adobe Illustrator and folded paper
Involvement: Designed the packaging by folding paper. Created the graphics in Adobe Illustrator.
